Two for one special!

I wasn't able to get any super great photos to post today, so I'm going to post 2 of my backburner photos instead. These are pictures that came out decent, but I wasn't satisfied with the final result I got and put them to the side. I've taken over 3,800 photos since January, so you can imagine how many I discard, ignore, or leave unused. The two photos I have today are from two photo shoots, one was at Pandapas Pond, and the other was another eye-macro shoot I did.

This picture was taken at Pandapas Pond, and while I like the photo, I don't see it as exciting enough to post on the blog. I did see an immediate use as a website design photo though, so if/when I make my own website instead of using a blog, I will probably incorporate this photo into the design. It's pleasantly simple.

This photo is of my friend's eye from a few weeks back. She's got really pretty eyes, and it was unfortunate that we couldn't get a decent lighting solution at the time. I'm hoping that with my new lens, I will be able to get sharper and clearer photos in these same conditions, and I will have better results for these eyes. I ended up not posting this photo originally because of editing problems I had with it, and you may be able to spot where it was over-edited.

Texture #2

I took this at Pandapas Pond, same time as that blurred bird photo I posted a few days ago. I enjoy sharp texture photos, so I felt inclined to post this. I'll be going home for Mardi Gras with Emily and another Emily, so hopefully I'll have a bunch of new pictures for you all to check out after Spring Break. I will try to post during break, I don't know if it will be shots from New Orleans during the break though, that depends on how much time I get to edit photos.

Movement

I skipped over this picture a few times before I realized it wasn't all that bad. The intended shot was to pan with this bird as it flew across the pond, and it worked pretty well. The only problem? I didn't have nearly a fast enough shutter speed to nail that movement smoothly, and what resulted is this photo, and a very odd looking bird with double the wings from all the movement. At a low resolution, the bird looks like a blurry dot, but at full res it's much better. My favorite part about it was the captured reflection of the bird, I was pretty pleased with that.

Padapas Pond

This photo was interesting in how I ended up taking it and how I even thought to take it. We made our way across this bridge, and I was so distracted by the other landscape features that I mostly ignored the bridge. As we were leaving to walk around the park more, I turned and saw the bridge, and immediately saw some sort of picture in it. I ended up taking about 10 different photos to get this one, which is a 20 second exposure to blur out the rippling water.

In another note, I'm thinking about writing up a sort of guide or at least a description of what my whole process is for photos, from capture to posting. Is anyone actually interested?
